The front end checkstand is a critical area of every grocer's store; not only is it the one department visited by every customer, but it's the last impression shoppers have of your store. What front…Continue

RV 2 started this week's tour off at Price Chopper in Schenectady, NY this morning.  We spent 3 hours in their parking lot as more and more leaders kept boarding the RV.  It was truly an honor to spend time with so many members of an accomplished company like Price Chopper.  As we discussed the benefits of the Cash Handling lane, a Price Chopper member informed us of an advantage the Cash Handling lane offers that we hadn't thought of before, it keeps the lane attendant from having to handle unclean and germ-covered cash.  We always stress the fact that we not only distribute, but also gain, valuable knowledge and information on this tour!

UAA RV 2 made it's way out of "the city" but was still in New York on May 19th. We drove to the Albany area to Cairo, NY where we met with Slater's Great American Market and Slater's Smart Shop. These ajoining properties were operated by two generations of retailers with the elder accouting for 40 years of experience in grocery operations. This small town relied heavily on the services provided in these stores and they were bustling during our visit. As the conversation turned to technology it became evident that these operators break from the notion that small towns are slow to adopt it. They use service kiosks for services at the deli and for photo processing. The comment was made "I like to use new things to make our store stand out." They immediately gravitated to the BNR and it's ability to reduce cash on hand detect counterfeit bills. As we toured the RV they were impressed by the number of offerings and products on display. It was an enjoyable opportunity to meet and discuss operations and technology with these forward thinking grocers/c-store operators.

RV 2 was in the close quarters of the Bronx on May 18th to visit with the people at Morton Williams Supermarkets.  After parking along the street in front of the store we spoke to them apout the challenges of operating in one of the largest urban areas in the world.  However different their stores are the challenges were largly the same.  They once again were impressed by the way Lane Hawk used photo recognition to add under the basket, or "wagon" items to the order.  When they stepped onto our Vitality Mats they said thier cashiers "needed" those mats.   As they toured the RV we were sure to let them know that Pan-ston offers solutions for every need in grocery stores (except for refrigeration) and many can be purchased on panoston.com.

On May 17th RV2 was in New York City to visit one of the Key Foods stores in Brooklyn.  We surprised to find an actual parking lot at this newly remodeled store, as well as new Pan-Oston Vantage lanes.  There were other technology items of interest on board despite the store having been remodeled less than a year ago.  It has become evident that Lane Hawk and Scan Cam both offer benifits to scanning accuracy that make them very attractive to the grocers we are meeting with on the RV.  The BNR once agian raised eyebrows as well when we demonstrated  its speed and accuracy.

RV2 moved on to Atlantic City, NJ to visit with Pacific Food Market on 5/4/11. Today I showed how the BNR can be integrated and how the Cflex cabinet can be integrated into a customer service counter.

Today RV2 stopped at Jones Food Market Red and White in Savannah, GA.  The smell of great Bar-B-Q filled the store which is located on the peaceful Habersham Street.  I showed one of the owners of the store the Pan-Oston cigarette merchandisers that can secure and display his choices of cigarettes and merchandise.

Today RV2 stopped at LG Hausys America, Inc. in Atlanta, GA.  Over 30 members of their team came onboard the RV to check it out!  Everyone was excited to see how great their solid-surface countertops looked when installed on our C-Flex and C-Series counter systems!  The enthusiasm of the LG team made it a great day for everyone!

Today RV2 met with the Big A Distributors team in Morrow, GA.  We discussed how much abuse a food service or beverage counter takes in its environment.  We showed them the features and benefits of the C-Flex cabinet system and how quickly and economically individual panels can be replaced should they become damaged.
