For independent grocers and the wholesalers that serve them
We made a video to explain why we decided to write a book in the first place. Take a gander for your chance to meet authors Sam and Dabney, and some other faces that you'll read about in the book. You can order the book from Bi-Rite's website: http://biritemarket.com/book/book-order/
Also, keep an eye out for our feature on Bi-Rite in the Feb. 2012 issue of Progressive Grocer Independent

Comment by Tony Orlando on January 26, 2012 at 9:58am This is what I have always aspired to be in my store as well. Living in a perpetual poor County makes it incredibly difficult to do what the Bi-Rite store does, because of population density, higher consumer health awareness, and income per- capita which is way higher than my area. I applaud his efforts to be a positive force in his community, as Wal mart is clueless on doing what he does everyday. I still create a very unique experience in my store, with a 100% scratch prepared deli, and a growing selection of custom made diabetic friendly foods made with organic agave nectar. In each community, an Independent store owner must capture the trust of their clients completely, in order to grow their business, and this video should be played at the NGA Show next month, to wake up the folks who have lost faith in the system. Congrats on a great store, and I hope you own half of NYC in 10 years.
